Visa requirements and travel information for Andorra
Andorra is an independent country that is not part of the European Union or the Schengen Area, however no visa is required for any non-EU citizen to enter Andorra.
All those citizens of the European Union do not need any visa to enter the Principality of Andorra, it will only be necessary to present a valid passport or ID card in the case that the customs police require it. This is because Andorra has only two borders: France and Spain and Andorra has signed agreements on the movement of persons with both countries.
On the other hand, if you are a citizen of a country that is not part of the Schengen Area, in addition to your valid passport, you will need a Schengen visa with multi-entry and multi-exit.
Visa policy for Andorra
As we have said, the Principality of Andorra does not require any visa to enter the country, however we can summarize as follows:
- Citizens of the European Union who want to enter Andorra:
Valid ID card or Passport (including minors traveling with their parents or legal guardians).
- Citizens from outside the European Union but belonging to the Schengen Area:
Valid passport.
- Citizens from outside the European Union who do NOT belong to the Schengen Area:
Valid passport.
Multi-entry and multi-exit Schengen visa.
Citizens from outside the European Union and who do not belong to the Schengen Area must have their passport stamped when traveling to Andorra, i.e. when passing through customs either through customs in Spain or through customs in France.
Tourist Visa
Andorra allows the person who wants to visit the country to do so without any problem, however it is important to take into account that such tourist may only reside in the Principality of Andorra under the tourist regime for no more than 90 days a year (either in a row or in total).
It is not necessary to apply for a tourist visa to enter Andorra, not even for minors. It will only be necessary to present the above mentioned documents.
Pets
In the case of traveling with pets (dogs, cats and ferrets) and provided that the number is less than 5 animals, you can visit the Principality of Andorra if you present the following documentation and information:
- That the animal is identified with a microchip.
- To be properly vaccinated against rabies.
- To present the pet passport of the animal.
Schengen Visa
The Schengen visa will not be necessary in Andorra for those who are residents of the European Union or for those who reside in a state that is part of the Schengen Area.
However, if you do not reside in one of the above countries you must apply for a Schengen visa with multi-entry and multi-exit.
Covid vaccination and health declaration
During the Covid period, it was mandatory to present a complete vaccination against Covid in order to obtain a residence permit in Andorra. Even to be able to travel to Andorra.
Nowadays, it is not necessary to present the Covid passport in Andorra since it is a destination that is not obliged to present the vaccination schedule.
